Description

The Lawrence County Joint Vocational School District is seeking a part-time Driver’s Education Instructor to deliver high-quality classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. This role helps students develop safe and responsible driving skills while meeting all Ohio legal requirements. The instructor will also support program coordination, student progress, and compliance with state regulations.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with students, communicates clearly, and values safety and accountability.

Qualifications:

• Meets all health requirements mandated by law (e.g., tuberculosis test)
• Successfully passes BCI/FBI background check as required by Board policy
• Holds or is eligible to obtain an Ohio driver training instructor license as required by Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4508, including successful completion of probationary period and state assessment
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Demonstrated knowledge of motor vehicle laws, safe driving practices, and instructional techniques
• Preferred: Experience teaching driver education or equivalent professional training experience
• Preferred: Experience coordinating behind-the-wheel instruction and curriculum development 

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction aligned with Ohio driver education standards
• Provide behind-the-wheel training in a safe and structured setting
• Ensure all instruction meets Ohio Revised Code and Administrative Code requirements
• Monitor student progress and administer assessments
• Maintain accurate records and submit required documentation to the Ohio Department of Public Safety
• Communicate with students, families, and school staff about progress and expectations
• Assist with scheduling of instruction and vehicle use
• Maintain vehicles, materials, and a safe learning environment
• Comply with all district policies and safety standards
• Complete all required district training and support district initiatives
