The part-time HVAC Instructor provides hands-on, career-focused training for adult learners in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. This role prepares students for employment in the HVAC field by building technical skills, safe work habits, and workplace readiness. Instruction includes both classroom learning and lab-based training aligned to industry standards.

This position is ideal for an experienced HVAC professional who enjoys teaching others and helping adults build new career pathways.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary training preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of HVAC industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC systemsKnowledge of refrigeration, electrical components, troubleshooting, and safe work practices
  • Ability to teach adult learners with varying experience levels
  • Holds or is eligible to obtain an Ohio Adult Education permit or appropriate licensure
  • Ability to prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (ESCO, NCCER, OSHA 10)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Meets all health requirements mandated by law (e.g., tuberculosis test)
  • Successfully passes BCI/FBI background check as required by Board policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring adult learners
  • Experience with workforce development or career-technical education progrms

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Teach heating and cooling principles, refrigeration, air distribution, and electrical systems
  • Prepare students for industry credentials (ESCO HVAC Excellence, NCCER, OSHA 10)
  • Develop lesson plans, lab activities, and assessments aligned to workforce needs
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, and performance; maintain accurate records
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab and classroom environment
  • Inspect tools and equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Stay current with HVAC industry standards and practices
  • Collaborate with administration, staff, and industry partners
  • Support student employability skills and job readiness
  • Complete all required district training and comply with Board policies
  • Support program growth, recruitment, and district goals
