Description
The Lawrence County Joint Vocational School District seeks a part-time OPOTA Basic Police Academy Instructor to deliver dynamic and compliant instruction in both classroom and practical settings. This position supports cadets’ progression through OPOTA certification by providing expert instruction, evaluation, and supervision in assigned curriculum areas. The ideal candidate is a certified and experienced law enforcement professional committed to developing the next generation of public safety officers.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years full-time experience as a law enforcement officer.
- Current certification by OPOTA in the subject area(s) of instruction (e.g., firearms, driving, subject control, ADAP).
- Valid Ohio Driver's License.
- No criminal convictions disqualifying employment in law enforcement training.
- Meet all current OPOTA instructor requirements and maintain compliance with updates.
- Acceptable BCI/FBI background check.
- Meet health requirements as mandated by law (e.g., negative TB test).
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching or instructional experience in a public safety or law enforcement setting.
- Experience delivering both in-person and online instruction.
- Proficiency with educational technology platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support a diverse adult learner population.
